Welcome to Woodford County Schools

  • From the Superintendent

The Thanksgiving season is upon us and it provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the many blessings in our lives. This Thanksgiving seems extra special to me for several reasons. First, I am blessed to be serving in a top quality school district like Woodford County. I have said many times how special this community is and I am grateful the board of education has entrusted me to lead this district. Next, I am privileged to work with so many outstanding and dedicated people. All of our employees are committed to providing the best education possible for our kids and this shows in how they perform their jobs each and every day. Not only do we have great employees, but we also have the best students in the state. When you look at some of the accomplishments of our kids such as sixteen students selected as Governor’s Scholars, one student who made a perfect score on the ACT and the SAT, five National Merit Semi-Finalists, 152 students who scored all distinguished on the CATS assessment this past spring, a final four appearance for the WCHS girls soccer team and three individual state champions in 2007-08, it is easy to see how special our students are.

I want to thank the community for opening your arms and welcoming Julie, Anna Beth and me. We feel so much at home already and that is a tribute to the friendly people of Woodford County.

We have work to do for us to reach our full potential as a school district, but the work is exciting. The foundation is in place and we are all committed to helping all students reach proficiency.

During this special time, I hope that each of you can spend some quality time with family and experience the blessings of the season.

    D. Scott Hawkins
    Superintendent
